Opportunities for Fun in 2021

We want people to have access to fun activities for themselves and their children during the upcoming months. The benefits of being outdoors and staying active, especially during winter months, has been well documented.

We are aware of the negative impacts of social isolation due to our current situation with Covid-19. It is our intention to help those struggling and feeling the stress of our times by giving people the opportunity to connect and be in nature. All health and safety measures will be in effect to ensure everyone's wellbeing. Outdoor groups will be limited to a maximum of 12. Face masks and physical distancing will be adhered to during all workshops and events. At the time of writing, Simcoe County was in the restrict-orange zone. https://www.ontario.ca/page/covid-19-response-framework-keeping-ontario-safe-and-open#orange We will be following these guidelines/regulations. It is our hope we will be at the first level of public health measures, the "prevent-green zone" in the New Year.

You and your loved ones can book a meditative walk in nature and experience forest bathing led by our Master Naturalist. We call it "Bush Breathing". This exercise allows you to immerse yourself in nature experiencing benefits on a physical, emotional and social level. We offer Bush Breathing a couple of times per week from January to May and again from September through November. During the winter months we ask that you dress appropriately for the weather and to bring a blanket. It's quite the experience to lay in the snow, looking up at the sky and just listen. Stress release, breakthroughs, tranquility and connection are just some of the benefits.

At the end of January we are offering a 1/2 day workshop on mammal tracking led by the

well known Bob Bowles. Here is where you go into the bush on snowshoes and learn to identify mammal tracks and scat. You will observe signs and browse from coyotes to moose to our smaller creatures like porcupines, rabbits and wild turkeys.

Late winter, early spring we begin our various healing workshops and classes. Level 1 & 2 Reiki are offered, a level 1 Therapeutic Touch class is available, along with Sound Therapy workshops and Quantum Healing classes. A Dream Catcher and a Shaker making workshop are also on the agenda.

Summer brings opportunities for camping and joining in with the Carden Butterfly and Dragonfly count. Last years count was a lot of fun and a great success. The information gathered is passed along to the ministry so that they have up to date information on species and numbers for the province.

Again, our focus is to get people out in nature, socializing and following guidelines, getting away from the hustle and bustle of city life and reconnecting to what is truly important for each individual. Let's change the wording 'social distancing' to 'physical distancing'. Hope to see you in 2021.
